Thoughts from others about Sumner Levine (cont)*:

Sumner would always make me feel welcomed...even when I saw him at an unexpected place.....His face would light up and I would  immediately be among friends.....I will miss his smiling face.....my love to Phyllis and all those in pain.  -  Carol Hart; 7/2014

It is with a heavy heart that I write about the passing of Sumner Levine. Sumner was like a cheerleader for the Southern Jewish Historical Society. His enthusiasm about our organization was contagious. He got our attention and drew us into the fold.
To Phyllis, his family and friends, and the Memphis Jewish community, I extend my condolences. We will all miss him very much. - Jacquelyn Metzel; 7/2014

Sumner was mensch in every sense of the word.  A loyal friend to all who knew him and especially to the SJHS. - Bernie Goldstein; 7/2014

Although Sumner's heart was the Jewish Historical Society, he was always there for me when the Temple Israel Archives needed his skills to get it done. He made sure Memphis was represented in the Bagels and BBQ exhibit hanging in the Tennessee State Museum which came from the Jewish Federation's traveling exhibit between 2007 and 2010.  Most of all, he helped me to understand what being a friend meant. Even living in California, I miss my friend. - Margery Kerstine MBA; 7/2014
